I was caught near the Jamie Bell Adventure Playground in High Park. I am an older female big
brown bat. Like the other bats, you can tell I’m old because my teeth are quite worn. Also, I am a mom who has successfully raised and weaned my pup. You can tell this because my nipples are enlarged and the fur around them has been worn from nursing but it is starting to grow back.
I have been named Cora after Krista’s mother and grandmother, which is appropriate because we female bats usually live in family groups known as matriarchies – there are great grand-mothers all the way down to great grand-daughters (and maybe even older than that), as well as mothers and daughters, aunts and nieces, sisters, and cousins.
July 22 – 23, 2015
Just like the other bats caught in the park, I’m playing hard to get – my roost can’t be found but I have been heard out feeding at night!
My signal has been MIA since July 24.
