Below are just some of the amazing creatures I’ve had the opportunity to see in Panama.
This lovely motmot visited every evening.
These little parakeets are everywhere in Gamboa. Usually you see them flying in pairs ❤
Laterallus albigularis White-throated crake. Apparently quite an elusive rail. I saw this bird every night on my hunt for katydids. I also heard it a lot as it makes a ridiculously loud sound for its size!
Ever wonder where birds go at night?
Slaty-tailed trogon tucked in for bed.
Another sleepy bird.
slaty-tailed trogon at day.
A beautiful katydid – also tasty bat food.
Reborn – A recently molted spider.
One of several tarantulas along a path leading to a giant fruiting fig.
Giant grasshopper (Tropidacris cristata) yes, that’s literally its common name.
Leaf-cutter ant highway – Panama is a haven for anyone wanting to study ants!
Anolis auratus Aptly known as the grass anole -These little anoles were tucked away on nearly every blade of grass it seemed.
Three-toed sloth in my backyard!
